What is a CERTIFIED FARMERS' MARKET? California certified farmers' markets are the real thing - places where genuine farmers sell fruits, nuts and vegetables directly to the public. Every farmer who sells at a certified market is inspected by the county agricultural commissioner to make sure he/she actually grows the commodity being sold.

Farmers' Market Vendor Guidelines and Applications
Vendors are defined as follows:
AGRICULTURAL: You must hold an Agricultural Certificate issued by the Agricultural Commissioner of the county you grow in. If you are not a certified grower, you cannot sell produce, flowers, or plants in our markets.
NON AGRICULTURAL: This includes cooked food, packaged food, salsa, bakery, etc. You must be able to pull a permit from the Orange County Environmental Health Department if and only when you are accepted as a vendor. A commercial kitchen and specific equipment are required. No products may be produced in your home. For more information on how to qualify, please contact the Orange County Environmental Health Department.
CRAFT VENDORS: There are only 2 of our 10 markets that allow craft vendors: Irvine on Saturday, and the Great Park on Sunday. There are certain criteria necessary to even apply and spaces are very limited. No re-sale items are allowed, and no distributorships are allowed.
